Christmas 2023 fundraising
The band wishes to thank everyone who invited us to their Christmas event. December was such a lot of fun for us and to top it all we raised an amazing £1017 for our 3 charities: Seesaw; The Oxfordshire MS Therapy Centre; The Haematology Unit at the Churchill Hospital. A huge thank you to everyone who contributed to these three worthy charities.
Carols at The Six Bells

We had a chilly but fun evening of carols at The Six Bells in Warborough on 21st December. Villagers and visitors to the pub were each handed a carol sheet and sang their hearts out to all the well-known carols. Thank you to everyone who came along. The collection raised a brilliant £103 for our chosen charities.
Carols at Sotwell Hill House
We took a small band to Sotwell Hill House in Brightwell-cum-Sotwell to play carols for the residents. Everyone was in the Christmas spirit and a good time was had by all. Happy Christmas to all our friends at the home!

Carols at The Crown Inn, Benson
A lovely evening of carols raising a fantastic £128 for our charities! Thank you to The Crown Inn for having us and for making it such a lovely evening.

Heritage Day, St Helen’s Church, Benson
The band took part in St Helen’s Church Heritage Day. Lots of local clubs, societies, charities and organisations took part displaying photos and other memorabilia of their history and background. As the band is 141 years old, we were one of the oldest to take part! We also performed a short concert outside the Cannon’s Room whilst visitors to the church enjoyed refreshments. Thank you St Helen’s for asking us and for being part of such an interesting and enjoyable day!
Strawberries and Cream Tea at Sotwell Hill House
Recently the band played on the lawns of Sotwell Hill House, a residential care home near Wallingford, for it’s annual strawberry and cream tea! It was a lovely occasion for residents and their families and friends who came together to listen to the music and enjoy a wonderful afternoon tea in the beautiful grounds of the home. The sun even shone for us too and with the summer we experienced this year we were very lucky not to get wet!

Benson Vintage Cycle Rally!
The band was invited to play for the annual Benson Vintage Cycle Rally on Sunday 2nd July. The location was The Red Lion Pub in the beautiful village of Chalgrove where we entertained all the tired and hungry cyclists while they stopped for their lunch break. The band played a selection of songs from it’s popular programme, the perfect accompaniment to a Ploughman’s and pint of ale!
The band did not charge a fee for this event. Instead we collected money for the three charities we support: Seesaw, The Oxfordshire MS Therapy Unit and the Haematology Unit at the Churchill Hospital. With everyone’s kind donations we raised £91 in total.
The band’s next public engagement is Warborough Feast which takes place on the beautiful location of Warborough Green. We look forward to seeing some of you there!
